Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on a PC earlier to avoid competition with Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

Larian Studios slightly shifted the time for the release of its upcoming Role game Baldur’s Gate 3, and this means good and bad news, depending on whether you planned to play the game on the PC or PlayStation 5.

In an interview with Kotaku, the founder of Larian said the decision to transfer the PC version for several weeks because the beginning of August seemed more suitable time to release the game for PC players, and not wait until the console version was ready. Looking at the calendar of the exit of the game 2023, Vinka said that the transfer of the release on August 3 makes sense because the game will not face other September role-playing games, such as the upcoming science fiction game with the open world of Starfield and the complement of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.

We wanted to release the game at the same time, and when we realized that this would not happen, they began to watch that they could release. "Then we saw that it was a very intense year, with Zelda, with Diablo, Starfield, Cyberpunk, and then Final Fantasy – so we started looking "Okay, well, what is this good place when people can play, and they will not fight for attention?". We have this game, in fact, ready for use on PC. So on August 3 it seemed to us a good option. Therefore, we chose him.

As for the console versions, Vinka explained that the priority of Larian is to achieve a stable frame rate of 60 FPS, so the version for PS5 will be released a month later, and the version for Xbox Series X/S is still under development.

"PS5, we want to reach 60 FPS, we are very close to this, ”said Winka. "Therefore, we need extra time. In addition, it takes some time for consideration of applications. And so it happened. On Xbox we need a little more time. There are other requirements. But we also do them, just it will take a little more time".
